Background

Addis Ababa Sectoral Association (AACSA) was established in 2005, in accordance with proclamation No. 341/2003. It is an umbrella chamber for 10 sub-cities Chamber of Sectoral Associations which comprises 13 sectors. AACSA strives to create conducive business environment for manufacturers to enhance industrialization in Addis Ababa at a faster rate.

 

TThe sectors of Addis Ababa Sectoral Association (AACSA) are Grain mill owners Association; Metal Products manufacturing and Jewelers Association; Home Economics and Traditional Food Products Manufacturing Association; Garage Association; Sweaters Manufacturing Association; Small construction Equipment Manufacturing Association; Silk Screen and Advertising Publishing Manufacturing Association; Domestic Animals Breeders and Animal Products Manufacturing Association; Weaving Products and Carpet Manufacturing Association; Jewelry and Cultural Artifacts Association; Pot Work Producers Association; Dress and Canvas Tailors Association; and Wood and Reeds Products Manufacturing Association.

 

Objectives

  • Creating conducive environment for producers to be organized and strengthened
  • Encouraging urban producers of handicrafts
  • Providing necessary support to upgrade the quality of products
  • Disseminating and compiling information on products
  • Encouraging the participation of members in the economy by coordinating their knowledge, wealth and labor
  • Creating conducive environment for members to safeguard their common interest
  • Creating conducive environment for Sectoral Association with the government on different issues

Mission

Enabling the expansion of manufacturing industries in Addis Ababa by providing qualified services to its members through the adoption of national and international best practices.

To be a self reliant, reputable, representative and competent chamber of Sectoral Associations in Ethiopia in year 2012 E.c.

Structure

It is composed of all registered members. It is the supreme authority of AACSA. The General Assembly elects not more than 10 Board of Directors including the President and the Vice President of the chamber from its members for two years term.
It is composed of business members elected by the General Assembly for definite period of time to oversee the performance of the Secretariat. Currently there are 11 members of Board of Directors is elected for two years term.

The President oversees all activities of the chamber and chairs the general assembly and board meetings.

The Secretary General

It manages day to day routine activities of AACSA is the Secretariat.
The Secretary General of AACSA leads and facilitates the staff. AACSA currently has eight staff members out of which three of them possess second degree and the rest posses first degree and diploma. The ratio of professional staffs to total staffs accounts for over 75%. In gender wise aspect, five of eight staffs are women, from which 60% are professionals.
